An exploratory M.E.G. terminal photograph documenting the unyielding palm vegetation and pristine freshwater shoreline of The Sunset Beach.
Bathed in an eternal golden twilight, the landscape remains locked in a state of profound, dreamlike silence, accompanied only by soothing tropical breezes and flawless, unchanging palm trees.
Description
The Sunset Beach is an infinite twilight expanse with an endless, warm sand coastline. The sun sits permanently low on the horizon, bathing the environment in a constant, comfortable orange and gold gradient. An endless ocean stretches into the distance, characterized by a complete absence of animal and marine life, with perfectly calm, gentle tides. Maritime analysis has revealed that this vast sea is composed entirely of crisp, pure, drinkable freshwater, serving as a life-saving resource for weary travelers.
The environment features a dense, thriving tropical vegetation consisting of tall, fruit-bearing palm trees that exist in a state of perfect, unnatural preservation, never dropping dead leaves or showing signs of decay. Furthermore, the crystal-clear ocean water is populated by thick kelp and seaweed forests that sway gently beneath old, empty wooden fishing docks. However, looking closely through the glass-like water reveals an eerie, absolute sterility—there are zero fish, crabs, or living organisms swimming through the leaves, and the underwater environment is blanketed in a deafening, total silence.
The Sunset Beach possesses an official entity count of absolute zero. Despite the rustling palm trees and weathered docks, there is not a single bird, insect, or animal present across the landscape. Because of a severe, localized isolation anomaly fundamentally identical to level 999, multiple travelers can never perceive or interact with one another. The M.E.G. cannot establish outposts or shipping colonies here. Consequently, the level serves strictly as a solitary, anomalous environment designed exclusively as an isolated sanctuary.
Architecture & Infrastructure
The Sunset Beach completely lacks any commercial resorts or sprawling modern estates. Instead, the shore is dotted with small, salt-weathered wooden fish huts and isolated, brutalist concrete cabins.
While the fish huts appear completely abandoned, they function as vital, anomalous resource caches. The old netting hooks, empty curing barrels, and bait crates inside create a ghostly psychological paradox, falsely implying that a human fishing population vanished right before the traveler arrived. However, instead of maritime fauna, these caches are packed with fresh, oversized coconuts that never spoil and pristine bottles of Almond Water.
The concrete cabins feature minimalist, unpainted white stone walls and large panoramic glass windows looking out at the sea. The moment a traveler pushes open their heavy metal doors, they are met with a wave of perfectly crisp, automated air conditioning. The AC hums with a soft, comforting white noise that blocks out the deafening silence of the empty world. Inside is a flawless, clean bed with white sheets—a modern, sterile sanctuary that actively reverses the cell-and completely repairs the neurological strain and cellular fatigue caused by total insomnia.
Bases, Outposts, and Communities
There are no known bases, outposts, or communities on this level due to an unyielding solitary anomaly.
Entrances & Exits
- Entrances: The level cannot be accessed through conventional means. Access is granted exclusively from Level 999. If a traveler completely resists the urge to flee through Level 999's failure trapdoor, successfully confronts the psychological manifestations of their deepest life regrets, and exhibits genuine, painful remorse during their internal judgment, the night void collapses. The starry sky splits open into a golden dawn.
- Exits: The sanctuary is entirely voluntary, and the resource caches will sustain a traveler indefinitely if they choose to permanently retire in comfort. However, if the absolute silence and isolation become too heavy, they can walk down the straight, endless line of the coast into the infinite horizon. As they walk for miles on the shore, the warm orange sunset slowly dims, the turquoise freshwater turns dark and cold, and a thick freezing sea fog rolls in. Stepping through this fog causes the paradise to vanish entirely, exiting the traveler onto the narrow sand-and-fog strip of Level 100.
