Comfort so innate it seemed to be woven into the level’s very existence had seeped through my resting flesh. I hoped to bask in unforeseen peace - to align myself with the quirks that granted this level a populous void - but the solace it promised was contained to just a fragile glimpse.

You will wake up

at the edge of a large field, speckled with pastel flowers and looming trees. It is only a short distance from where you lay that you will see the playground. Faux castles painted in saturated reds and greens (though their colours bold, love has left them chipped), with slides as their drawbridge and ladders as their gates. There are rope bridges for safe crossings and monkey bars for the daring. [something]

The sun, a gentle observer, will breathe a comfortable warmth from directly above. It will be carried by tranquil breeze, which only occasionally dares to rustle fallen leaves or flowers that were plucked by curious onlookers.

You could leave

at this point, or any that is to come. You will not be a captive of this park. It is only the will of your own mind that can stake you here.

The Shadows

Some play in the park, dancing across play structures and seeing great heights on the swings. Others sit outside the park, discussing the latest TV shows or their children's achievements in schools. All that stands as evidence for their existence is their shadows and their voices yet both present a strong testimony for the realness of these people. They aren't real humans, only personification of distant memories and desires. Yet, many wanderers are fooled into believing in them, chasing the possibility to exist in reality once more until there is nothing left.

Paragraph about what they're like and what they do and all that

Shadows that are obscured by the wanderer's own shadow cease to exist, as do shadows which are obscured by shadows created by the wanderer's influence. Voices that cannot be heard over the wanderers are silenced forever. The sun is aligned with the wanderer's attempts to interact with the shadows, slowly setting for as long as the wanderer keeps trying. The shadows cast by the playground's structures grow longer, consuming more shadows.

Eventually, the sun sets completely and the park is left lit only by lamps. There are no more people, save for two. The wanderer and a shadow all too familiar to them.
