Level 960: "The Oldest Hotel"
Level 960 is an infinite hotel complex in a state of advanced decay.
corridor, presumably leading to a kitchen.
Description:
Layout and architecture:
The architecture of Level 960 consists primarily of tight, claustrophobic corridors, rarely wider than one meter in width. Wider and larger corridors are extremely rare, often considered an anomaly by people who escaped.
The rooms range from standard double-occupancy hotel rooms to larger "Studio" apartments. Although not officially confirmed, the Level is widely believed to be either infinite or of extreme spatial scale, both horizontally and vericaly. There might a bottom though, but if there is, it is very deep. Staircases do exist but rarely. the floors seem to be stacked on each other unlike normal hotels. And the entire level is shrouded in near-total darkness. Sometimes it is possible to see light with no source though.
Rooms:
- Corridors: Level 960 is mostly the same, the same wooden corridors. The corridors do not contain any windows. The doors are arranged weirdly, but only sometimes. The ones that lead to rooms are placed correctly, but sometimes doors are standing in the middle of a hallway not leading to any room, just to the same hallway.
- Rooms: The most common room found here is (as said earlier) is a standard double-occupancy hotel room equipped with stuff like beds, wardrobes, fridges, microwaves. Every room includes a small bathroom with a sink, toilet, shower and sometimes a washing machine and a mirror. Rarer - carpets, fans and other things that you might find in a hotel room. "Studio" apartments are pretty much the same small rooms but bigger with more furniture, and mostly with additional room. In the corridors bathrooms also might be seen, but they are the same as in the rooms but sligtly bigger with a few cabins intead of one toilet. Every rooms mentioned yet is out of electricity. Meaning all the equipment is useless, unless a kitchen is found.
- The Kitchens: Unlike the entire level, kitchens have likely unlimited power supplies. Those are mostly power outlets and various ceiling lamps. This is the most important place in the entire level for survival. A way to spot a kitchen is too look at the floor, which in the kitchen is made out of concrete. Or look for a strong light source.
- Libraries: Rarer than kitchens are libraries of various sizes located in the darkest corners of the level. These might be as small as a normal living rooms or gigantic ones stretching to multiple floors. As expected - a lot of books are on the shelves. These books are from The Frontrooms. But books that don't exist there may also be found.
Structural Integrity:
Floors and walls are made mostly constructed from wood riddled with deep cracks. There is a severe risk of structural failure under the weight of more than 400kg; exploration with less than 6 people is highly advised. As unexpected, when a floor breaks/one part of the level collapses, no chain reactions starts. The entire level stands breaking the laws of physics by not collapsing further (gravity exists normally though).
- Resources: Refrigerators occasionally contain food (bread, soft drinks, ready meals), though most are spoiled. Crucial: Although the Level is believed to be infinite in spatial extension, resources appear to exist in a finite, non-regenerating pool distributed across the structure. Resource conservation is encouraged because further exploration for resources is unwise due to the danger of the Level.
- Biology: Despite the presence of cobwebs, only little biological life forms (insects or rodents) have ever been sighted. Fungi and mold do exist here more commonly.
Bases, outposts and communities:
Setting up any base/outpost/community in level 960 is not possible because of the large amounts of entities 296 and the collapsing state of the level.
- Outpost [redacted]:
One documented attempt was made at setting up a permanent outpost here by a now forgotten group of explorers. The expedition ended in complete failure, as all ten members of the expedition vanished without a trace, never returning from the deeper corridors. To this day, the existence of the outpost is not confirmed. Even if it still exists, it is nothing more than a ruin. Any attempt to locate it is a massive risk that no one is willing to take.
Entrances and Exits:
Entrances:
- Solo Entry: Collapsing through a wooden floor in any other decayed level while alone. Levels like 19 (Attic Floorboards), 609 (The Decay Zone). Even Level 9 if a wooden floor will be in a house.
- Group Entry: Locating a rare, rotting door within Level 5.
Crucial: Entering this level in any way will transport a person or a group into a random location in this level. You might find yourself in a looted spot with no items or in a place where no other people have ever been in.
Exits:
- The Mirror Method: Locating an intact mirror in a room while alone (difficult, because most of the mirrors are already broken). Shattering the mirror reveals a passway in the mirror itself. Crawling through it is the next step to exit. After doing that a Wanderer will find themselves in a random bathroom in a random level. Mostly 189.
Discovery:
Level 960 was discovered by accident in late 2022, when a group of wanderers reported finding a door in Level 5 that felt "out of place." Upon entering, they found themselves in the dark, wooden corridors of what appeared to be an endless, rotting hotel.
Level 960 was officially documented only after the disappearance of the first research team, as the recovery of their equipment provided the first clear images of the environment. Since then, the entrance has become unstable, appearing and disappearing at random, making it one of the most difficult levels to study.

"We have been stuck here for a few days by now, I think it was like 5, maybe 6? David is in the bathroom now, Sam has been gone for a while, and I also saw Mark, he was dead, I don't know how he died, maybe he couldn't take it anymore? Our supplies are also running out, I might have poisoned David with that steak… or maybe I didn’t. I am going insane here. That thing is still watching me. I can feel it.. I feel like it's getting closer every minute or every second. I am going to check on David, he's been in that bathroom for a while. David? Why is the mirror broken?
