A hallway in The Tightrooms.
Description
Level 337 is an endless network of narrow corridors painted in pale yellow and white tones. Small lamps line the walls, casting a soft, warm, yellow glow, reminiscent of Level 0. Yet the light behaves strangely. Shadows may stretch too thin, to long, or even vanishing, and the walls reflect the glow so evenly that the corridors appear flat, almost two-sided. The walls are extremely close to each other, barely a meter apart.1 Over time, the walls close in. This leaves wanderers with little space to move or turn, forcing them to brush against the walls as they pass the corridor. The narrow space makes every step feel confined, as if the corridor itself is pressing inward. The corridors rarely widen, and when they do, it is only by a few centimeters.
The ceilings are flat, low and smooth, showing no visible damage. In deeper areas of Level 337, the built-in lamps now emit a buzz similar to that on Level 0, though elsewhere they remain mostly silent.
The doors scattered along the corridors are painted white, though the tone varies slightly, often fading into a gray color. Most of them are numbered, yet the sequence makes no sense. Some numbers are missing, while others repeat endlessly. Most doors stay open. A few can be locked.2
The many doors in The Tightrooms.
At the start a faint, slow music can be heard echoing throught the corridors. Notes that fade backwards, swells that don't match normal rhythm, sounds that are played in reverse. The music travels throught the tight hallways is an unsetteling way, echoes, like warning wanderers on what's about to come. The music grows longer and louder the more one remains inside the Level. Stairs occasionally appear, leading either up or down. Downward staircases are marked with “exit” signs, flashing a neon green light, but following them is strongly discouraged. Descending down these stairs causes the level to shift, making return impossible, while the music becomes distorted, and the lights will now emit a dark red hue, creating an unsettling atmosphere for anyone walking. Though no entities have been spotted, the environment itself feels like one. Occasionally, another staircase may appear, offering a chance to return to the original area. However, if trapped, wanderers experience hallucinations and a deep sense of claustrophobia.
Navigating through Level 337 is impossible. The layout frequently shifts when unobserved, causing those previous paths to lead to an entirely different set of locations. Corridors may curve quietly without appearing to do so, leading wanderers into never-ending loops. Over time, the walls begin to close, slow and quiet making your journey much more difficult. The walls can't crush you, but they can squeeze just enough to awaken every ounce of fear lying inside you. Claustrophobia grips you, accompanied by the distorted music that echoes through the hallway, wearing down anyone who is weak enough.
When wanderers first come across Level 337, they experience an anomalous effect in which the environment appears deceptively perfect, luring them in and encouraging entry. The current state of this effect is under investigation and it remains a mystery on the matter. One such documented incident on this phenomenon involving a wanderer and his companion is described below.
Types of Rooms
Empty rooms are the most common type of room found in Level 3373. As their name suggests, these rooms contain nothing just flat-out air. As well as the rest of the Level these rooms are no different. They are cramped, dark and uncomfortable. Often being a meter in width and 5 meters long. Wanderers cannot find anything useful here and these types of rooms should be avoided.
The lighting inside these rooms is dim, coming only from those wall-mounted lamps seen in previous hallways and they cast weak, uneven shadows across the empty room. Each room contains a single light switch right next to the door, and is presumably connected to a small electrical system that takes power. The walls are made of concrete, coated in a white but dull paint, and the floor is made from marble like material that reflects light in an unsettling way.
Upon entering, a cold breeze moves through the room. The music stops, behind the door, as if waiting for something. The emptiness of the room creates a deep feeling of unease for anyone entering. Despite the unease, nothing happens and the rooms can be exited safely without incident.
Discovery
Level 337 was first discovered on April 26, 2021, by a group of explorers wandering Level 21, who accidentally stumbled upon it. However, no documentation followed the initial discovery of the level, and it was seemingly forgotten.
That changed on September 3, 2024, when a desperate man called the "M.E.G. Radio Corporation" for help. The rediscovery was carefully documented in the transcription below.
Radio Communication:
Begin Log: 20:51
Location: Level 5
Interviewer: M.E.G. Radio Operator
Interviewee: Unknown
Unknown: Hello?
M.E.G. Operator: Hello, this is the "M.E.G. Radio Corporation." What can I help you with?
Unknown: There is this thin door on Level 5. My buddy opened it and went in. Five minutes passed and he won't answer my calls. I think he is lost, can you please come and help him out?
M.E.G. Operator: Okay, sir. Can you at least look around for him?
Unknown: No way man, I'm not stepping inside that hellhole. It looks and sounds creepy as hell.
M.E.G. Operator: Alright, and what do you hear inside that door?
Unknown: Music! It's not a happy one. It's like one from a nightmare. Just strange and creepy sounds blasting from the other side. This sounds nuts, but it's true!
M.E.G. Operator: Okay, sir. And is your friend currently in Level 5 or do you suspect that he is lost in another level?
Unknown: That place definitely doesn't have carpets.
M.E.G. Operator: And are you in any danger yourself, sir?
Unknown: No, but if your team doesn't hurry up, I'm going in there.
M.E.G. Operator: I see, sir. We will be sending a team shortly. Please stay on hold.
Unknown: [Sighs] Fuck, man.
End Log: 20:54
Official Report:
September 3, 2024, 20:51. A seemingly forgotten level was rediscovered after an unknown wanderer and his buddy went on an exploration journey in Level 5. At that time, a M.E.G. Radio Operator was contacted from the "M.E.G. Radio Corporation" informing him that his friend had gone missing in Level 337. A team from the M.E.G. was quickly sent to the unknown wanderer's last location to try and save him, but they were unsuccessful. Upon arrival, the M.E.G. could not find the wanderer, nor his friend.
Further reports show that the people who were sent to save him were seemingly lost and couldn't find their way back. Because of the strange nature of this level, no one dared to step into the level again.
To this day you cannot enter Level 337 without special supervision from the M.E.G. But only a few brave people were able to go in. They were equipped with plastic tapes from their back, alongside with a walkie talky to document this level. Because of this, they found out that you can't get lost if you have a plastic tape or anything that is connected outside of Level 337. This seemingly "neutralizes" the shifting effect.
Bases, Outposts and Communities
Because of the shifting on Level 337, there are no bases, outposts or communities.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
- If you find a thin yellow door on Level 5, it will take you here.
- If you find a yellow door on Level 21 with the number 337, it will lead you here.
Exits
- The only confirmed exit from this level is achieved by successfully falling asleep on a mattress inside one of the furnished rooms, which will no-clip the wanderer to Level 45.
