The common look of the book The Behemoth

The Behemoth is an old 18th Century book appearing throughout the Backrooms, and when read caused harmful effects (see Effects) and reading for long periods of time causes the readers to grow looser limbs, sharper teeth, and lose of eyes. Including this, the readers loose the ability of logical thinking and start to become more animalistic. The readers, now known as Disciples, start to become more hostile towords any and all creatures. Interestingly, Disciples still retain their memories and can still speak, just with grunts and growls, and sometimes broken English. More info on the Disciples below. The book itself is rare to find and can be found anywhere. Wierdly, the book dissapears after 5 hours, even when it's secured and placed in a container, or when it's held.

Description

The Behemoth is an old 18th Century book torn up and severly dead. Some of the pages are missing, although some pages have been found by wanderers. When one of these pages are picked up, they are disintigrated and automatically in the book. A speculation that this book has existed since the beginning of time, but the pages have been spread out across all levels, and along time they have been collected by entities or humans.

Despite it's rough and fragile apperance, The Behemoth is suprisingly durible. Even dropped from high places or hit with a hammer, the book never seems to be destroyed. However, hitting a book with a hammer seems to be the only way to damage the Disciples, since they are connected with the book. Same is tearing a page out, but tearing a page out causes it to regenerate.

Properties

Even though many have tried to keep it contained, including the M.E.G, none can stop The Behemoth from teleporting from level to level. The book sometimes is non physical, sometimes just being an illusion. The book can attract potential victims with a smell that witnesses describe as "sweet" and "beutifull." The book can even make readers high on some occasions if they don't read it. Like the censoring effect of Level 12, taking a picture or video of the book will result in just a black screen with the audio replaced with backwards text. When that text is reversed, it says "hear the calls of him, obey him, trust him, serve him."

M.E.G is currently finding and studying the book in order to find out where it originally came from.

Effects

When readers begin reading The Behemoth, they begin to have mild headaches and the occasional auditory hallucinations. After 5 minutes, the reader begins to feel dizzy and lightheaded. Their headache has become severe. After about 20 minutes, the reader will have a keen flight or fight response to whatever noises they heard. Their eyes also begin to narrow as their headache becoms a severe type of migrane. The reader also begins to experience vomitting and nausea. After an hour of reading, they have severe hallucinations that can hurt them. They become more fragile and can even die. After two hours, the readers transformation into a Disciple begins. After 3 hours, the reader has fully transformed.

Disciples

Disciples are humans turned into loose armed animalistic creatures with no eyes and sharp teeth. They have been turned into creatures by The Behemoth book. They have a motive to "serve him" attacking anyone and anything they hear. There is no possible way to kill these creatures aside from hitting the book with a hammer. Every time The Behemoth book teleports to a new location, the Disciples follow. There is also no way to cure these rabid human creatures, although the M.E.G is currently finding ways to revert them back into humans.
