SURVIVAL DIFFICULTY:
Class 3e - Environmental
- Unsafe
- Unsecure
- Non-Entity Hazards
Level 39.1 is a sub-layer of Level 39. It is a tree-climbing up to an undetermined height.
Description
Level 39.1 consists of one tree on a flat plain of grass; the tree itself is possibly thousands of miles in height.
Occasionally, on some of the branches, one can find fruits that appear normal. However these fruits have many strange properties. Some fruits of the same size may completely fill one up; however others may not be filling at all, this can result in wanderers having their stomachs burst due to overeating. A way to differentiate the fruits is by minor color changes, heavy fruits have a more dull color whereas light fruits have a brighter color.
The ground level is devoid of anything with no sign of anything but flat grass. The higher one goes on the tree, the more resource-rich it becomes. The resources found are detailed later below. Some wanderers have even reported finding holes with almond water in them. However, this is unconfirmed.
The type of wood in the tree itself changes as one climbs up, each section is equal in height usually being about 57 miles long. Below is a table showing the discovered types of wood found at different heights.
Region | Type of Wood |
Region 1 | Oak |
Region 2 | Spruce |
Region 3 | Birch |
Region 4 | Pine |
Region 5 | Pine + Birch |
Overview A | Shifting |
The tree itself gets weaker as one travels higher, the bottom layers are completely indestructible and the regions up til 4 remain the same. Even then, in region 5 drills and other advanced tools are required to dig into the wood.
The total flatscape the tree resides on however, remains untouched and likely will stay this way as it is currently the worst place for long term survival. Many bases are being made at the higher layers but no entity has been discovered yet. Some wanderers have reported seeing a squirrel being roaming around the tree trunks, this remains unconfirmed.
Arbor Geysers
In certain areas one can find holes with contaminated water spewing out of them. The contaminated water present in these holes lands on branches and slowly spreads across the tree and hydrates the plants allowing for fruits to grow. The water found in the holes is not drinkable in any way and has a PH of three.
Regions
The ground region is comprised of dull, flat grass. Few Settlements are possible here, but would require wanderers to take regular trips to gather supplies making survival difficult. An anomaly present here is known as the radio tower phenomena, rarely one may be able to observe a radio tower in the distance which will soon disappear out of sight if any movement is detected. Attempts to reach the tower by any means have proven futile.
Region 1 is comprised of oak wood. The wood in this region is indestructible making it slightly suitable for setting up outposts or bases. However, little to no resources are present here, making survival difficult. A rare variant of the fruits can be found growing here, this variant completely demolishes the immune system and sends an unknown virus into the body which causes death in mere minutes.
Region 2 is comprised of spruce wood. The wood here is not as strong as Region 1 however it still cannot be destroyed by any tool present in the Backrooms. This region has a few resources such as 'fruits' hanging from trunks, these fruits are not to be consumed for reasons mentioned earlier. Wood here is usually clustered around unlike any regular tree, the tree can suddenly go sideways in this area making navigation difficult.
Region 3 is comprised of birch wood. Wood here is the same as Region 2. Few bases are being set up at this level. Rarely, weakened trunks can be found and sometimes even a strange fungus affecting some of the wood. Resources here include possible Almond Water and other edibles found across the Backrooms.Arbor Geysers are commonly found here.
Region 4 is comprised of pine. Wood here is significantly weaker however still extremely strong. Wanderers have reported seeing entities in this region however this remains unconfirmed. This region has been noted to mess with the mind as well as cause random teleportations, wanderers can suddenly feel like they fell to the bottom of the tree and then suddenly wake up at an unknown location.
Region 5, formerly known as the hyper cluster is comprised of both birch and pine. Wood here is a lot weaker and can be destroyed with powerful tools such as drills, however axes break instantly if used. This is where most bases and outposts are being made. Wanderers have reported seeing groups of people in torn uniforms staring at them from a distant branch, this event only occurs at night. Arbor Geysers are found here in mass.
Overview A is a section cutting off from Region 5, this section has shifting wood and allows wanderers to look below and see the progress they've made. Strangely; from this section, the radio tower is constantly visible. When mobile devices are used here, they will suddenly shut down with a red screen.
Bases, Outposts and Communities
Alliance of the Latex
- Located lower in Region 4
- Consists of Rubber Tappers
- Harvests latex from the wood in Region 4
- Located on a large branch at the entrance of Region 4
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
When in Level 39, the ground may start to become flat as well as the wanderer feeling extremely dizzy. Soon after this, the wanderer will wake up at the ground region of Level 39.1
Exits
The only known exit is by finding a large hole somewhere in Region 4.1
