A hallway in Level 537.1. The wanderer reported that the white closets were all empty albeit two jars filled with Valtrilin.

Level 537.1 is a sub-layer of Level 537.

Description

Level 537.1 takes the appearance of a series of empty, pinkish hallways with strange patterns randomly appearing on the walls. This level is well-lit, and is known to give one a feeling of emptiness. The patterns on the walls appear when one looks away from a wall, they usually disappear after one looks away again. If multiple people look at a pattern at once, it may disappear while one of them is still looking. The patterns themselves are random assortments of shapes merged together and seem to be comprised of dry paint. Wanderers have claimed that they have seen these shapes move, and this results in the formation of a group of Lalograms.

The temperature is fairly hot, usually around 29°C. It is common to find doors and windows that seemingly lead into an empty, blank white void. However, looking down reveals that the void is not empty, and the main section of Level 537 is visible extremely low in the void. Looking up will reveal the same star visible in Level 537. This gives insight on the true layout of Level 537 and Level 537.1. Above 537, beyond its clouds, is a white void. Within this void is where 537.1 resides, completely invisible to 537 due to its fake atmosphere preventing anything outside from being visible. Above this void is the sun, although nothing is known about it. This also proves that this level is physically present in Level 537.

Although the hallways themselves are completely empty, it is possible to find closets that rarely contain jars of a strange pink powder. This powder has been nicknamed "Valtrilin". This powder is extremely sensitive, and touching or interacting with it will cause some parts of it to burst, spewing out Liquid Valtrilin. Liquid Valtrilin is not drinkable, desperate wanderers who consumed it have reported symptoms such as nausea and the feeling of their internal organs beginning to melt. In the worst case, a wanderer turned into a Pigmentore after a week of consuming it. The powder form has been reported to cause minor burns on the skin when touched.

Pigmentores on this level behave differently compared to those on Level 537. The most notable difference is that they do not paint walls at all, and instead work on fixing damaged sections of the level, although they lack resources to properly fix sections so they end up trying to use their hands to fix them, they eventually give up but immediately move on to another damaged section to repeat the same process. Another notable behavioral change is how they interact with their surroundings, unlike 537, these entities do not bother to respond to any attempt at communication and pretend as if they are the only one in the level. Even when harmed, it is impossible for them to interact with their surroundings environment unless they are doing their work. The population of these entities is also much less due to the process being rarer as only highly desperate wanderers consume Liquid Valtrilin, and even then it is not a guaranteed chance. However, with this in mind, the population of these entities should be near zero, but there have been multiple sightings of them which likely means that it is possible for these entities to form without the Pigmentore process.

Entities

The two entities present on this level are, Pigmentores and Lalograms. Lalograms are conjunctions of moving shapes, all made of clay. These entities can be seen forming patterns on the walls of the level, phasing in and out of the walls as they proceed. They always travel in groups, and it has been confirmed that they are sentient and have intelligence. Placing any food item near them will result in them slowly proceeding down the wall and covering the food item with their bodies. When they remove their bodies, the item would be gone, even inedible sections of it. This implies that these entities do indeed need to consume food, they likely stay alive due to their ability to consume inedible materials.

Bases, Outposts and Communities

Palace of the Dammed

This is a small base situated near a void door, a misspelled sign made using liquid Valtrilin is on the floor in front of it, reading "Palce of t Dammed", which means "Palace of the Damned". The members of this base are a group of "failed pigmentores". Failed Pigmentores are Pigmentores that did not manage to fully finish the process due to reasons such as a strong immune system. The members of this base are a group of these beings who have managed to keep a portion of their intelligence, although their vocabulary is small and they have never been seen leaving their own base. The base itself is a small room with a void door in it, the room is completely empty albeit some empty Valtrilin jars that they refer to as "Furniture".

We are greedy creatures, lacking appreciation of a proper home. I wish I could make you understand, I am giving you what you wanted. A home, free from the pains of reality, free from stress.
