The following are reports sent from an unnamed exploration team that had escaped a dangerous, unspecified level. The first of many is transcribed below.
Recording #1
"Okay, we just got out of that awful place. We're in this… I can't find the word for it. There's a lot of trees and a couple of open spaces in between. It's kind of inconsistent, but we can definitely set up camp here. I don't see any immediate dangers. We'll set up camp and I'll come back on again."

The next recording was written on a note.
Recording #2
"Our stupid microphone stopped working. I have Dan working on it right now, but I have to document this somehow.
We looked around our surrounding area and we think this level has no dangers at all, we don't see any entities or anything dangerous environment-wise. There's this inherent feeling that we're being watched or followed. But since we just left a clusterfuck of a level, I assume that adrenaline's still there. Anyway, we'll rest up here for now before trying to find a way out."
Writing ends here
The aforementioned reports were sent to the M.E.G. and led to the following early revision of level 391.
SURVIVAL DIFFICULTY:
Class pending
- {$one}
- {$two}
- {$three}

Description
Level 391 is an extensive forest interspersed with inconsistently placed fields. No dangers have been identified within this environment at present, based on current reports. It is important to note that this level was only recently discovered, as of now, preventing definitive conclusions at this time. The cycle of day and night within this level spans around 8 hours, which may cause little disorientation and slight jet lag.
The only known occupants of this level are the exploration team responsible for its discovery. There is currently a lack of evidence indicating the presence of others, leaving their existence uncertain.
As stated earlier, there are no currently identified threats, including entities or environmental hazards. However, as of now, no exits have been located. Confirmation from the exploration team regarding the presence of exits is still pending.
The previous draft above was held for peer review until further reports were sent. They are transcribed below.
Though it's barely noticeable, faint heavy breathing can be heard.
"Okay, so we got the microphone to work finally. Um, as we said before, no dangers at all. Just a normal forest. But that's what's kinda freaking me out. Dan and the others are calling me paranoid. But there's no way this is the level. I mean, nothing in the backrooms is ever normal like this. Even Level 11 is weird and physics-breaking, even though there's over 12 thousand people there. Pause
Something is wrong."
Recording ends
"Alright, everyone else seems to be on board. We're gonna start to explore around a little. No one seems to know what could be causing it, but I've heard some saying it's an entity, another said it's an effect by the level, and Dan swears it's his mother finding him again, not in a good way either. God, that woman did awful things to him… Maybe the level preys on fears like that? I mean, for me, I have no idea what's there and that's what scares me. It could be something simple like a skin-stealer or something. But it could probably be something else, much more dangerous.
An unintelligible distant voice is heard calling for someone in the background.
Okay, wish us luck, we're heading out now."
After the last report, nothing was heard from them for roughly two weeks. After day three of silence, the M.E.G. attempted to regain contact numerous times.
On day fifteen of unsuccessful attempts, Nadine, one of the members of the group, burst into Base Alpha on Level 1. Witnesses reported her as "shell-shocked" and "wide-eyed".
She was carefully brought to a quiet room and given almond water. When she recovered from her panicked state, she agreed to an interview. It is transcribed below.
Begin Log: 14:34
Interviewer: M.E.G Officer
Interviewee: Nadine
M.E.G Officer: "Are you sure you feel okay, ma'am?"
Nadine: Yeah… Yeah, I'm fine.
M.E.G Officer: "Good, now, can you go over the events for the interview?"
Nadine: "Okay… So, we always had this sense of unease ever since we got there. But it kept getting worse and worse… It took longer for me than it did for the others, but even I started to feel that something was wrong."
M.E.G Officer: How did the others handle it?
Nadine: Well, everyone thought it was something different. Um, interestingly enough, they sort of played on our fears or bad memories. Dan thought it was his abusive mother, and Gabe thought it was a bear because he got mauled by one as a kid back home. I didn't assume anything at first. But like I said earlier. I was still too afraid to leave my tent even after we had tried searching… We could hardly handle our fear and dread the longer we stayed. But the scary thing is, we found nothing. Nothing!
M.E.G Officer: Are there any other effects to note?
Nadine: Well… Nadine hesitates. It wasn't just psychological. Remember how Dan thought his mom was coming back for him? He said that his old bruises were showing back up. And the cuts that Gabe got from the bear? They started to open. It was fucking terrifying… Seeing the wounds just… open up like that.
M.E.G Officer: "Why have only you shown up and not anyone else?"
Nadine is quiet, then starts to sob.
Nadine: "I… I thought they were dead… They weren't moving, they were just hyperventilating and shaking… I tried to move them but I just couldn't… I tried getting them to drink almond water but they just spat it right out… I-I had to run… I fucking hated leaving them there, but I had to…"
M.E.G Officer: "That's unfortunate, we're truly sorry for your losses, ma'am. We're working on investigating the level so we can better tell how to avoid this level. Thank you for your time."
Investigations of Level 391 were conducted soon after the interview. The data collected led to the final revision of Level 391 below.
LEVEL
391
SURVIVAL DIFFICULTY
CLASS 2
Exit: 3/5
Difficult to Exit
Environment: 4/5
Extreme Environmental Risk
Entities: 0/5
No Hostile Entities

First picture taken of Level 391.
Description
Level 391 is a seemingly infinite expanse of forest interspersed with fields. At first glance, there appears to be no danger. The trees are indestructible, no entities inhabit this level, and the rest of the environment and ambient temperature are safe. It also features an eight-hour day and night cycle, which may cause initial disorientation and a brief disturbance of temporal awareness.
However, evidence suggests that the longer one inhabits this level, the more paranoid and fearful they become. On average, it takes about a week for most wanderers to 'freeze' and become unable to move. Their body weight also seems to increase, making it almost impossible to escort them out safely. This can ultimately lead to starvation. Whether this is a result of the level or merely a figment of the imagination is unknown.
Notably, the time it takes to reach the 'frozen' state varies. Data indicates that resiliant wanderers take longer to succumb to the effect. The level may also amplify wanderers' fears. Others report that their greatest fears, bad memories, or past traumas reside within the level. Regardless, this renders the level dangerous for extended stays.
Entrances and Exits
While examining the equipment of the exploration team that discovered the level, notes were found that stated they had arrived from Level 386 by "finding a tree and hiding behind it." This was tested, and it is confirmed as a reliable way to enter this level. Because of this, it is advised not to use trees to hide from entities on Level 386.
To exit, however, is reportedly much more difficult. To exit, one must follow a specific set of steps. Firstly, you must climb a tree and calm yourself, thereby clearing your mind. If done correctly, you will be transported to Level 23, another forested level.
"There's something here, there has to be. There's no fucking way there isn't. I swear I saw something watching me. It almost looked like a smiler, but I know it isn't.
I'm going to go look for it. I can't take it anymore. There has to be something here. I won't leave this damn place until I see it."
