Hostile Entity Compass found along with Phil's corpse
Object 101 is a small metallic cylinder more akin to a pocket watch, it lacks the distinct cardinal points that it’s Frontroom counterpart possesses, nor does it point to the magnetic north. Instead, and as the name suggests, Object 101 points towards the nearest Entity in it’s vicinity, there are two kinds of Entity Compass one for both hostile and friendly entities.
Despite the kind of Entity Compass the wanderer is holding, other humans aren’t detected by them, even if these other humans are considered friendly or hostile, as other wanderers aren’t considered entities.
Properties:
The only difference between the Friendly Entity Compass and the Hostile Entity Compass is the color of the arrow, although the physical difference of every Entity compass is unique, the color of the arrows is the only constant between all of them, being that Entity Compasses with a red arrow signal hostile entities, while the ones with blue arrows signal friendly entities.
Despite being quite useful for wanderers, Entity Compasses only show the direction of the closest entity, not the distance from said entity.
Discovery:
According to an entry in the diary of a wanderer named Phil, the first ever recorded instance of Object 101 was found in one of the supply crates of Level 1, attached below is the transcript of the discovery:
July 23rd 2020
Today was a good day, went around Level 1 looting supply crates for things to trade with the B.N.T.G. and found something interesting, it seems to be a working compass, one that actually works.
There are no marks or cardinal points, only a red arrow that seems to point somewhere, I have no idea if it points north or not, but it doesn’t spin around like normal compasses do, so it must be special somehow.
Hopefully it shows the exit to this god forsaken place…
Probably not…
But it’s getting late, so I’ll go to sleep and follow the compass tomorrow morning, wish me luck diary.
The diary was found December 7th 2021 next to the corpses of a wanderer and a hound, alongside with the aforementioned instance of Object 101 and a knife, it’s believed that the Entity Compass guided Phil towards a lone Hound in Level 1, managing to kill him but dying in the process after being mangled by the hound.
After that there have been other instances of Entity Compasses found on supply crates on Level 1, on unmarked boxes in Level 19, as well as other backrooms levels.
