Description

Level 186 is an infinite farm that is used to mainly grow Firesalt, despite the fact that Firesalt cannot be grown in soil anywhere else than this level. Sometimes, random houses or barns might appear on the level, which usually don't contain more than one room. These houses contain couches, lamps, random decorations and curtains that have no windows behind them. The houses can also have basements, which are much more expansive than the rooms above, having the size of an entire city at average. These basements have just a white concrete wall, along with a grey stone floor, with some flourescent lights occasionally appearing. Uncommonly, these basements can glitch into each other due to their size, leaving a dead end in the basements. In these basements, you can find several pipes that emit warmth, almost like a radiator. These pipes also shake heavily, and also can sometimes leak a black tar-like substance which has not been identified yet. Along with the pipes, you can find things in the basements such as:

  • Projectors, usually in a separate room
  • Puddles of a black tar-water substance, not advised to touch
  • Blocked off hallways, usually by some rubble or signs
  • Empty vending machines
  • Computers, usually on a desk in a hallway. All of the computers work, but they are all locked behind a password that is impossible to crack as proven by some attempts of hacking. Works with no power required
  • 24-hour traditional clocks. Completely useless due to the level's special day-night cycle
  • Firesalt storage rooms, require a key to enter that can be found in some of the houses above
  • Random pieces of furniture, such as barstools and ottomans
  • Pencils along with notebooks, containing 10 empty pages or less
  • Pennies or quarters scattered around
  • Rat poison, despite the fact that there are no rats or Death Rats of any kind
  • Unbreakable glass bottles that contain molten Firesalt

The outside contains no trees, having bushes instead, and no sky, being replaced by just a light blue color. This level has a day-night cycle (which lasts 84 to 87 hours. 25 hours day, 59 to 62 hours night), where the sky changes to pitch black and the only light source will be the lamps from the houses and basement. At day, the average temperature is around 3°C, and the night having temperatures as cold as -17°C. There's also no heating in the basements or in the small houses, bringing cold wear to this level if you have it is recommended. It also never snows or rains in this level. During the night time, more entities appear and the Firesalt that grows will no longer be able to be harvested. When trying to harvest the firesalt at night, it will just go back to the ground like a magnet when you try to grab it out. Trying to take the soil of this level and trying to plant a Firesalt fragment in it in a different level will have no results. It is recommended to bring a lamp or flashlight to this level due to the night having basically no natural light except the basements and the houses.

Bases, Outposts and Communities

Due to the night and it's effects, there are no known bases, outposts or communities on this level. It should also be noted that the B.N.T.G Trader's Keep Outpost temporarily drop off volunteers at the daytime to collect Firesalt and return. This process has a 65% chance of working successfully, as proven by calculations of 12 total expeditions.

As proven by the Theta Log, forming an outpost here is impossible due to the level's recently discovered special trait that can delete random rooms in the basement at will, and add new ones vice versa, the estimated time for room deletion being near a week. It is unknown what happens to the wanderer when they enter a room that is about to be deleted from existence.

Entities

At day, the only entities that roam are Hounds and Wormlings above the ground and in the houses, and Smilers in the basements, At night, the same entities from day appear, however this time new entities such as Wretches, Skin-Stealers, and hostile Facelings that appear in the basement with a red employee outfit. If you try to approach them, or it approaches you it will ask you to leave their "private property". If you don't leave. they will lunge at you and attack you until you are dead.

Entrances And Exits

Entrances

The only known way to enter this level from Level 10, if you find a sign that says "FACTORY - 89 MILES". If you find this sign and walk 89 miles in front of it, you will end up in this level.

Exits

Finding a door with the number 1 carved onto it presumably with a knife can lead to Level 1, however finding a door like this is a rarity. Another way to exit is to try to no-clip successfully in any room or hallway that contains a computer. This will send you to Level 400.
