Description:
Object 199, also known as "Tear of Reaper," is an extremely lethal liquid characterized by its black, opaque, and highly viscous appearance. It possesses light-absorptive properties and exhibits extreme corrosive effects on biological organisms. Any individual who comes into contact with Object 199, even minimally, will liquefy and fully evaporate within approximately 60 seconds, leaving no physical remains.. Object 199 does not affect inorganic materials or deceased biological matter. While it retains its lethal properties when affixed to a corpse, it does not induce darkness unless separated from its host.
Due to its light-absorptive nature, Object 199 does not reflect illumination. Instead, it gradually absorbs ambient light, causing the surrounding environment to darken progressively. This darkness is impervious to any known method of illumination. However, once darkness enters its dissipation phase, the darkness gradually fades over the course of several days. The extent, rate, and duration of this darkening effect are directly correlated with Object 199’s volume. Greater quantities yield proportionally stronger effects.
Individuals exposed to the darkness induced by Object 199 frequently report severe psychological distress, including acute fear, anxiety, and overwhelming guilt. Affected individuals experience vivid multisensory hallucinations—visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile, and gustatory—primarily consisting of experiential recollections of the deceased. These memories unfold as immersive, highly detailed manifestations, seemingly reconstructing the deceased’s lifetime experiences. While inside the darkened zone, individuals lose the ability to perceive external stimuli; their sensory systems become capable only of perceiving hallucinations generated within the darkness, this effect extends beyond vision, include to all sensory modalities, including audition, olfaction, tactile perception, and even nociception. As a result, prolonged exposure presents a significant hazard, affecting all senses. At this stage, the individual's actions become dictated solely by subconscious impulses. Given Object 199’s resistance to illumination, navigating a large darkened area is exceedingly difficult unless the terrain is favorable.
Object 199 is exclusively produced upon death, manifesting as a secretion from the ocular region. Not all deceased individuals generate Object 199—its production is contingent upon specific conditions. The deceased must have experienced absolute and unmitigated extreme suffering.12Qualifying circumstances include, but are not limited to: intense physical agony, prolonged psychological torment, unjust execution, profound grief from losing loved ones, or tragic events occurring in war or disasters. The quantity of Object 199 produced is directly proportional to the intensity of suffering before death—greater distress results in larger volumes, whereas lesser suffering yields smaller amounts. Object 199 naturally decomposes within 24 hours of secretion. However, once collected, Object 199 can be preserved indefinitely without any loss of its anomalous properties.
Manufacturing and Production
Due to its lethal nature, Object 199 has been weaponized by numerous factions for use in conflicts. Many documented wars and skirmishes have seen Object 199 deployed as a weapon. However, as previously mentioned, Object 199 only manifests when individuals perish in extreme agony. Consequently, to mass-produce Object 199 for warfare, captives must be taken alive and subjected to prolonged suffering until a sufficient yield is obtained. Prisoners are typically acquired through battlefield captures or by abducting wanderers or faction members, they are then detained and subjected to prolonged physical torture, often lasting several months, until the desired quantity of Object 199 is achieved, at which point they are executed to extract the substance. As a result, the production and use of Object 199 are considered unethical and inhumane. Many organizations have explicitly outlawed its manufacturing and deployment, and the majority of trading markets refuse to distribute the substance. Object 199 is primarily utilized as a weapon by factions known for their hostility and disregard for ethical boundaries.
Before using Object 199, its inherent viscosity must be addressed. Due to its thick consistency, users must dissolve Object 199 in water to achieve a more fluid state suitable for application. However, dilution reduces its potency, requiring careful formulation to balance its original lethality with adequate fluidity for practical use in combat.
The common methods of utilizing Object 199 include:
- Coating melee weapons or arrowheads with Object 199, enabling it to inflict lethal wounds upon impact.
- Pouring Object 199 directly onto enemies from a container.
- Filling containers Object 199 and hurling them at enemies, causing the substance to splatter upon impact.
- Sealing Object 199 inside a pressurized container alongside large quantities of Firesalt. The reaction generates an immense buildup of gas pressure, eventually causing the container to rupture and release Object 199 in vapor form. Operators using this method must carefully measure the amount of fire salt to prevent premature detonation, which could result in fatal self-exposure.
