Entity Number: 36
A rough sketch of a Geneticist based on known information.
Description:
Geneticists are claimed to be vaguely humanoid beings with elongated limbs and numerous eyes dotting their faces. They are usually seen wearing surgeon uniforms.
They are stated to be the creators of several types of entities, albeit all but one have yet to be documented, and the exact number of species created is unknown.
Behaviors:
Geneticists, according to their creations, are mute and hardworking creatures that are dedicated to transforming human subjects into various entities. They are also said to be extremely hostile towards non-subdued wanderers who happen into their level. They are also claimed to be highly intelligent, though this is just speculation. (We at the M.E.G. are unsure whether or not to take the Stalkers on their word, as we believe them to have a bias towards their creators.)
Biology:
Geneticists are said to possess excessively extended limbs and dozens of eyes on their faces, as previously mentioned. The precise number of eyes is unknown, though some claim they have a pattern similar to that of seeds in a lotus seed head. Aside from that, there are claims that they stand approximately 8 feet tall (Of course, we have no proof of this as no wanderers exploring Level 96 have ever returned.) and have leathery grey skin.
Discovery:
No wanderers are known to have encountered this species as majority of them do not make it out "alive" (Alive is in quotations here, seeing as wanderers converted into entities are not exactly dead, but are also not considered themselves.), therefore we only know of them via secondhand reports from wanderers and conversations held by Stalkers when they assume humans are not listening.
Do's and Don'ts:
Do:
- Avoid any contact with a one at all costs.
- Yes, the Stalkers do exist to gather subjects, though Geneticists will not hesitate to do so on their own if one appears within their reach.
Don't:
- Impersonate entities of their creation.
- Geneticists are not stupid, they can most likely tell whether or not they made you.
Entity Number: 23
Habitat(s): N/A, though two of them have been sighted on Level 5.
Description:
Stalkers are humanoid beings that adorn formal attire. They are almost indistinguishable from regular humans.
So far, they are the only known species created by the Geneticists, and only three have been confirmed to exist as of now.
Behaviors:
When not pursuing wanderers, Stalkers behave like humans, conversing and joking about. This is only done when they believe there are no wanderers nearby to hear them. This is to make them appear less frightening to wanderers, though we are unsure why they do this, as it might be used to their advantage when hunting.
When a Stalker hunts down a wanderer, it usually hides in the shadows, quietly following them around, waiting for the right moment to attack.
They also seem to have varying personalities.
Biology:
Stalkers are bipedal, human-like creatures. However, unlike humans, they have an impossible shadow covering their eyes, which prevents humans from registering them as people. They also have qualities and talents that Frontrooms scientists consider to be biologically impossible.
They also have long, clawlike fingers; another distinguishing factor that sets them apart from humans.
Discovery:
The first two known instances of Stalkers were encountered by unnamed wanderers in Level 164. Those wanderers eventually went missing, but not before alerting the M.E.G. of the newly discovered threat.
The third known instance of this species is also the only known case of a human having been converted; starting off as a lost wanderer who somehow found herself lost in the Backrooms before one of the original Stalkers captured her. It is believed that the Stalker's intentions were not of malice.
Documented Cases of Stalkers:
Three was one of the first Stalkers documented. In comparison to other members of its species, it has been noted to be quite docile. It also has the ability to project an eye onto its forehead that is fully capable of emotion. Three's perception of its environment seems to enhance when the eye appears. This characteristic was not observed in the other two specimens.
Mortem (Male)
Mortem was one of the first Stalkers to be discovered, alongside Three, however its personality appears to be the polar opposite of Three's. Mortem is a strange character with homicidal tendencies. It appears to be the only Stalker specimen who takes its work seriously, as the other two seem uninterested in tracking out wanderers.
Mortem is also said to be an impetuous liar who takes satisfaction in throwing its "companions" under the bus whenever it deems necessary.
It is unknown what Mortem's trait is.
Ave (Female)
Ave is a more recent discovery, as it was known to be a wanderer prior to its conversion. It appears to be cold and distant, though it is observed to be extremely close with Three and refuses to leave its side.
Ave's ability is most likely flight, though it rarely exibits this trait.
Do's and Don'ts:
Do:
- Avoid any contact with Stalkers that are not Ave or Three.
- Ave and Three are the ONLY known passive Stalkers. All other Stalkers are most likely hostile.
Don't:
- Purposefully provoke a Stalker, even the passive ones.
- They are easily aggravated, and will default to a defensive state once provoked.
Level 96 is the 97th Level of the Backrooms. It is the supposed residence of Entity 36, and is apparently the location in which Entity 23 and other numerous undiscovered entities originate from.
Description
According to the Stalkers, Level 96 appears to be a hospital whose rooms are all operating theatres. We are, however, unsure on how Stalkers know what a hospital looks like.
We have no way of knowing what Level 96's appearance and layout truely is, and we may never find out.
Bases, Outposts and Communities
The only known inhabitants on this level are the Geneticists.
- Geneticists are supposedly both highly intelligent and extremely hostile.
- They are also rumoured to either have an impenetrable defence or to be extremely dangerous on their own. (The Stalkers are not clear about this, but it is most likely that they do not know either.)
Entrances And Exits
Entrances
The only known entrance to this level is via the Elevator.
Exits
Level 96 can be exited via the Elevator.
After one researcher had the wonderful idea of sending the Stalker known colloquially as Three into the level with a camera, we have officially obtained the first photograph of both Level 96 and two Entity 36 specimens.
This is what he came back with:

Entity Number: 728
Description:
The Visitor is a being not native to the Backrooms. It can only be found around times that would be considered the weekend in the Frontrooms.
Behaviors:
The Visitor seems to behave rather strangely, almost as if it were both an adult and a child simultaneously. It seems to be incredibly attached to Stalkers Three and Ave, sometimes even referring to them as its parents despite appearing a similar age to the two.
