A 3d render of R2 of what it looks like
Rooms 2 better known as “R2” is an enigmatic level of the Backrooms.
Description
even though there’s nothing much known about this place, gonna give you a deep, rundown through what we do know.
So basically R2 is a huge maze of rooms and corridors the level gives a weird nostalgic feeling more of a weird way than a comforting way, the levels appearance depends on the person it could be rendered from a very old 3-D video game like super Mario 64, but it’ll be that same weird looking corridor there is a starting room where there is a hallway with a opening that leads to the room on both walls there are windows they look out to a tool room which is inaccessible the windows are impossible to shatter no matter how hard you try, and there is no door that leads this room that we know of it’s really hard to take a photograph without the photo corrupting ranging from a glitchy photo to the photo being completely white or blurred to the point where it won’t be able to be distinguished Video also corrupts here in a really glitchy file which can be ran, but it would have a weird effect on the video giving it a distorted VHS filter. The audio is glitchy, but for whatever reason if you record the level, the level does not corrupt audio files only video and image files
More about this level that the maze is non-linear that you can go to certain points in the maze without realizing it as the maze looks really similar. Even the light placements pretty similar there is doors on the walls which will lead to other rooms, even rooms with supplies like almond water fire salt. There even is food from the real world like steak, bread, macaroni, and those are the only food from the real world in these rooms the level also has doors that lead to more corridors and more mazes there are reports of a room that contains a TV that has TV static. If you break it it leaks a weird substance that comes out of the TV which is just the TV static. It makes that sound of a TV static and there is also an outside portion to the level but it feels fake. It’s described as a field with a house on it, the sky doesn’t look real the sky Looks like a skybox. And there are random doors placed on walls in this “outside area” if you call it that. There are also areas that slightly resemble outside areas where we’ve been to like a playground but it looks all fake like it’s 3-D rendered.
[R2.png|thumb|This is what would happen when you take a photo on the level]
Another anomalous affect on the levels that at certain times there is a night sequence where everything’s dark all the lights turn off, but the cameras work, for some reason only during the day is when the cameras corrupt while at night, the cameras seemed to work, but photos still corrupt it’s unknown why things corrupt on this level it may have had a similar effect to level 12 but it’s uncertain because instead of nullifying the video, it just completely corrupts it and glitches it instead of just nullifying it.
The level has a sound that is described as “distant humming” and even the sound of an attic fan coming from an unknown source on the level people have also reported buzzing coming from ceiling fans running can be heard in some of the rooms from an unknown source because most ceiling fans on the level don’t work at all because electricity doesn’t work properly meaning that all lights to have a glow to them are probably an entity of some sort, causing this glow from the lights imitating light to trap pray another thing is that there are many undocumented, affects or anomalies on the level like rooms appearing behind walls. People reported on seeing windows were not supposed to be they look out to a wallpapered room that looks like Level 0 with the manila rooms wallpaper, more things about the effects here are some corridors can flood with water, making it kind of dangerous to traverse, Walls with there shouldn’t be walls effectively making a dead end, and there is walls that can appear where the ceiling is, which looks up to a blank void, There is glitched doors which is highly advised not to enter these doors because you get transported to a unknown level and anyone who has seen somebody enter that door has been seen again.
There is a mental hazard to the level, the buzzing coming from the fans to cause people to hallucinate like hallucinating closet doors on walls wallpaper flashing people have reported hearing very loud bass booted sound that It has been from a couple rooms over. People have reported seeing smilers, but smilers have not been confirmed to inhabit the level Due to their being barely any dark spots on the level being dismissed as hallucinations of this level is unknown but as far as we know, this level is pretty safe. Documentation of his level is scarce due to how this level is pretty Unknown meaning that the level can be dangerous at times and other times it can be safe so the level is marked as such
Due how little we know about this level, this level is not recommended to be explored main explorations of R2 are done by MEG officials.
Bases, Outposts and Communities
There’s only one base but this base is Spread out throughout R2
MEG Base Explorers
- Friendly

Entities
There are two known entities known as Ed and light imitators
Ed is described as a humanoid with yellow glowing eyes, he is completely black in color and has really long arms despite disappearance. He is friendly towards wanderers, and would lead them to exit if you can.
Another entity on the level and they pretty much just intimidate light and has been reported that they look like a glowing spider like entity that has their own mind and conscience and are pretty friendly towards wanderers, and can actually speak and known human language, despite them being a spider
Entrances And Exits
Entrances
- to enter R2 I you need to find a closet on Level 996 and no clipping into that closet
- another way is to no-clip on a broken chair that emits the same hum sound heard on R2 on any level to be sent to R2
Exits
- the only known unconfirmed exit is by Going into an exit door at the end of the maze will possibly lead you to Level 0
- a new exit is by no clipping into a corner on the walls on the outside, which will send you to White Void
- another exit that has been just found is by climbing into a vent which will send you to Level 96
