"A large passage of the factory of overgrowth."

Description

Level 23 appears to be an abandoned factory that has been almost completely overgrown with mold, veins, and ordinary plant life. The walls of this level are made from weathered bricks, while the floor is concrete, usually covered with trash, dust, or ash. The ceiling has metal supports and large square windows, some of which are broken. The windows seem to work like most windows do in The Backrooms thus showing a white abyss.

The air at this level is polluted, and it is said to be toxic. One will need to get a Gas Mask as soon as they enter the level in order to successfully make it out alive. Without a Gas Mask one can only survive for around an hour before collapsing to the ground. Even with the mask, one is only able to survive for 2–3 days, making the information about this level extremely limited. If any Almond Water is found at this level, it is not safe for consumption as it is contaminated. Speaking of which, it is also possible to find small puddles on the floor.

The level is filled with plenty of different machines; however, none of them appear to work anymore. It is unknown what exactly was being made inside the factory. One theory suggests that they were specifically producing firearms, as a lot of pistols, revolvers, shotguns, and rifles have been found on this level. You can also find other things, such as chainsaws, knives, hammers, and maces.

As previously mentioned, lots of firearms can be found on this level. However, you can only find them in storage rooms or rooms that are filled with machinery. These rooms are generally considered to be the safest areas of the level, as they aren't fully overgrown and not a lot of entities appear there. The entities that do appear on this level are Smilers, Skin Stealers, Dullers, Clumps, and also Death Moths, but they are quite uncommon on this level. If you find any of them in the hallways, it is recommended that you hide, as you will most likely not have the strength to run or do anything else.

Generally, the more time someone spends at this level, the weaker they get. Lots of people have experienced both auditory and hallucinatory effects upon being stuck for only about five hours on this level. Some have stated that they have also gotten flashbacks of their past memories. As expected, due to air pollution at this level, it is hard to breathe properly, and people oftentimes feel dizzy and nauseous to the point where they might feel the need to throw up. Leaving the level should be your first priority from the moment you enter it.

It is said that the level also has higher floors, but those have never been reached. Similar to that, below the level are a bunch of natural underground tunnels that can be entered through large holes in the floor of the factory. These tunnels are kind of claustrophobic, and it is not recommended to go through them unless your life is in danger. After successfully traversing through these tunnels, one will end up in another area of the level, perhaps a storage room if they are lucky enough.

Bases, Outposts and Communities

The Outcasts

A group of 17 141 people that have taken almost all remaining weaponry and bullets left in the factory. They have also taken control of all remaining operational equipment, and are attempting to create more guns. They are extremely hostile and not open to trading. Apparently former members of the B.N.T.G.
