**Level 102 ** is the 103rd level of the Backrooms.
Description
Level 102 appears as an infinite, decaying library submerged in perpetual twilight. Towering bookshelves stretch into the shadows above, many of them warped, scorched, or half-collapsed. The air smells faintly of soot and wet ink. The floor is soft and uneven, covered in pulpy, soggy pages that squish underfoot. A gentle black fog drifts low, never rising above knee-height.
Lighting:
Dim, flickering sconces line some of the walls but provide little help. The deeper you go, the less light there is—yet your eyes adjust unnaturally well. Some wanderers report being able to read in complete darkness.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
Reading a completely black book in Level 52.
Falling asleep in a library-themed liminal space (such as an old school or university archive) in Level 4.
Exits
Burning a book that writes your future may lead to Level 0 (but not always the same version).
Whispering your full name into a typewriter may cause a trapdoor to open to Level 117 (“The Inkfalls”).
The Scribes – Tall, robed figures with typewriters embedded in their torsos. They "print" whatever they observe. If they notice you, they begin to document your every movement with growing detail—until their accounts start predicting your future actions. Many believe this becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Paperleeches – Tiny, ink-dripping leech-like creatures that slither between pages. They latch onto skin and drain memories rather than blood, leaving victims disoriented or even blank-minded.
