WARNING:
This entity is elusive and dangerous. Please report sightings to the Backrooms Guardian Navy and the VSCRM Editor Committee.
Entity Number: 214
Habitat(s): Level 180
Description:
Entity 214, otherwise known by local inhabitants as the Sea Anomaly, is a large leviathan which lurks in the sludgy regions of Level 180. Entity 214 has been classed as a threat by the Guardian Navy due to the missing ships known to be in the vicinity of reported sightings. Please act with caution and refer to the VSCRM to familiarise yourself with the reported locations of the Sea Entity and it's migratory patterns.
Behaviours:
This entity is very rarely encountered within the backrooms and a limited amount of behaviours are encountered, however below are documented behaviours gathered from wanderer's reports.
Entity 214 is largely regarded docile from afar but territorial, often attacking those within it's path. One such incident supporting this claim comes from the witnessed attack on a Dutchmen entity in which after a distressed and unusual sound emanated from the entity, it's tentacles spiked in various directions creating mace like cylinders which it used to wave wrap around and crack the fragile wooden boards of the Dutchman. After the sinking of the Dutchman, the entity released a more calm pulse of sound before continuing into a nearby sludge. Since has been no attempts to forage for food, from the Dutchman, it is assumed that it was a territorial response rather than an attack coordinated for hunting purposes.
The most known behaviour of Entity-214 is their migratory patterns. As of why the entity prefers to travel, hide or otherwise inhabit Sludges, is unknown. However, migratory patterns of the entity are known and documented within the VSCRM. In quarter year intervals, Entity-214 migrates northwards across the second and fourth zones1, followed by movement from the fourth to the fifth zone in which it stays for an additional quarter year interval before migrating back from the seventh to the first and second zones. With some exceptions, this migratory pattern is often correct and is further explained within the VSCRM for safety. Please note that they do travel between zones outside of migratory patterns and not all reported sea anomalies follow the migratory patterns at the same intervals.
Biology:
Entity 214 is a large spherical entity with a slight bioluminescent glow towards the front. Behind it sprout around five-to-eight polygonal non-Euclidean tentacles that sprout to around a dozen meters in length. Many sightings report different bioluminescent colours and some have linked their behaviour patterns to correspond to the colour of the eye. Is is unsure whether the link is between different species of said entity or if it corresponds to an emotion or similar activity.
Despite having no mouth or orifice, it seems that the entity is capable of limited vocal production by vibrating within the water creating high pitched pulse-like noises indecipherable to wanderers. Those who've reported hearing said pulses report that it resonates with enough force that it has caused wood to splinter or even crack under the intense vibrations within the water. It is theorised that such force, if it hit a wanderer within the water, could collapse or shatter lungs resulting in death, however, no such incident has been reported.
One close encounter verified by the navy has reported an incident in which the Sea anomaly appeared less than a couple hundred meters away from the boat when this communication call occurred. Before which, the sea anomaly was in a direct collision course with the ship. It lasted several seconds in duration before turning sharply and retreating within a nearby sludge. This encounter has alluded to the possibility that the entity is capable of sonar or echo location.
Adding onto the lack of any orifice, it is theorised that Entity 214 uses plankton or other nutrients found within the uncharted sludge regions which it absorbs through it's skin, similar to the Pacific Hagfish who is able to absorb amino acids and nutrients but on a much smaller scale than Entity 214.
Discovery:
Due to the vast history, it is hard to pin down the very first encounter, however, sightings can be tracked from at least half a decade ago during their first documented migratory patterns from the fourth to fifth zone. The discovery of the entity went without issue as the crew quickly left the vicinity.
Subjugation Notice
As of the 27th of March, the Backrooms Guardian Navy, lead by Admiral Langley have ordered the subjugation of this entity. All wanderers and boarders are urged to notify the nearest warship or port to hunt and engage the Sea Anomaly. Compensation provided for a successful elimination or subjugation of the entity.
