Level 576: "Lost Home" is the 577th level of the Backrooms.
Level 576 takes the form of a suburban place, with roads, parks, houses and large areas. However, the level seems to have a force that prevents a wanderer from going into most places. This has been deduced as a barrier generated by the level. Photography and recording in this level doesn’t work and destroys whatever device is being used to take the picture or recording by frying the electronic components inside. The level was given the name "Lost Home" due to the alluring and safe feeling Level 576 has at first.
The level follows a day and night cycle identical to the front rooms. While during the day, most of the level seems to have a scarce number of Entities apart from in the before mentioned “Dog off leash” area, nighttime is a different case entirely. DO NOT LEAVE the house if it is nighttime as Level 576 becomes densely populated with entities at this time. It is near impossible to navigate the level without getting hunted down. It has been stated that the entities in Level 576 seem to be far more aggressive and powerful due to unknown reasons. Level 576 in it's night cycle is pitch black with no natural light source. DO NOT turn on any light sources near the windows of the house as this will cause entities to try and break into the house. Due to their heightened aggression and physical prowess, they will succeed, and they will kill you, usually opting for windows and doors to break through. Once the sun rises, the entities will disperse, with only a few lurking around in the day, usually being Hounds and Wretches.
Description
House
Level 576 is a suburban area, littered with roads, houses, parks, and large areas. Appearing to be a a welcoming neighborhood. While the houses and roads appear to be easily accessible, they aren’t. The level has some sort of force field that blocks wanderers from going to most places. It has been deemed as part of the level and its boundaries. The only house accessible is the house which the wanderer starts in. The house itself appears to be an ordinary house with very little notable features. However, it should be noted that electrical appliances located in the house are unusable such as light switches and microwaves. The gas stove is functional, but it should never be used under any circumstance. Once the gas stove is turned on, it will stay on continuously and release carbon monoxide at a fast rate, this invisible threat has been theorized to claim many lives. A survivor of the level described this and stated he only survived because: “It was near the middle of the day and the release of carbon monoxide lasted for under two hours”, he later stated that at some point after 2 hours he ventured back into the house to find the stove reset. In the backyard of the house is a smaller shack like building. The door is always locked and is invulnerable to any form of damage or attempt to destroy it. The backyard itself is decorated with pot plants as well as a larger open area with grass. There are fences that reach from 5 ft – 8 ft tall around the backyard of the house, all attempts to climb over the fence have proven to be impossible. The house and backyard itself have an abundance of supplies. However, none should be eaten or taken as the food seems to be fatally poisoned or out of date. It has been stated by wanderers that the Level at first feels very “alluring and safe”, giving a false sense of security to the wanderer which usually leads to their demise within the first few hours of being in the level. A wanderer should not fall for this feeling as after around six hours the level takes on a incredibly sinister, ominous, and dangerous feeling. This feeling leaves wanderers feeling paranoid at first, fearing that something is coming to get them, the paranoia develops the longer the stay in the level and wanderers will begin to feel feel after an hour of feeling this paranoid affect. The only evidence supporting this is the abundance of Wretches throughout the level. Wanderer's must GET OUT of Level 576 as soon as possible. Any that have stayed over a time of more than two days have never been seen again. Within the house is a key, this key appears randomly in any of the rooms around the house. Upon finding this key the wanderer has an overwhelming desire to touch or pick it up, feeling as if the key will bring great luck to the person, which was stated by a survivor of Level 576 who resisted this urge. If this key is picked up or even touched, it will transport the wanderer directly to the sub-level of Level 576; 576.1. Since there has been multiple reports of trapped wanderers in the sub level, it is theorized that the key will transport itself back to Level 576 if moved or picked up.
Roads and Bridges
Upon exiting the House the wanderer starts in, the wanderer will be greeted with a suburban street, with many other houses as well as a road, which all appear to be in very good condition and similar to the house that the wanderer started in. Although the road leads to the left and right, it can only be ventured down to the right due to the barrier-like affect that was previously stated. Upon walking a 30 - 40 meters down this road, the wanderer will be faced with the ability to only go left. Attempting to go straight down the other street as well as continuing to the right of that street has proven to be futile. It should be noted that there are many houses located on either side of the street as well as sidewalks and a few small shops, adding to the welcoming neighborhood-like feel of the level. After the wander walks down the long street, they can choose to turn to the left and go over a small bridge or go to the right which leads to shaded sidewalk, the sidewalk itself has houses on the far right which can be seen at first but they soon disappear as the wanderer travels deeper into the level. These places are stated to feel as if it as a place you would you go on a walk with your family. The area with a bridge is a far shorter journey than the shaded sidewalk, once going over a bridge the wanderer will be greeted with another sidewalk which branches off to the left, upon walking this way the wanderer will be able to see houses on the left side of them as they walk down. Both of these areas lead to a large area which has a sign stating it's a dog off leash area. This area is quite large and has a diverse number of trees. As well with reeds that reach over 10 feet in the air and acts as small obstacle for a wanderer to get down into a creek. However, this is not advised to venture into as extremely hostile entities known as "Snakes from Level 576" occupy this area and will immediately give chase to any wanderer in sight. A small bridge that is used to cross over upon choosing to venture to the left from before will be presented which lies directly over the creek. CAUTION IS ADVISED, these entities are very alert and will chase if they spot a wanderer on the bridge. If caution is not used, then the wanderer will end up like the many skeletons littering the creek. The creek itself stretches throughout the level and one bridge is required to cross it if turning left, while two are needed to be crossed if turning right.
The Dog off leash area
The “Dog off leash” area should be avoided at all costs, even though the area when viewed from afar looks peaceful as it looks to be very peaceful. The area has been found to have a very ominous and depressing aura once entered. A survivor recalled how they had the strong urge to hurt and mutilate themselves without care of what happened to them. Directly stating:
“When I entered that place it was as if I didn’t want to live, I didn’t care anymore, I just
wanted to die, I felt as if the weight of all my sins and wrong doings invaded my mind and controlled me.” they stated.
The wanderer recalled a large number of bodies lying dead on the ground, as well as hanging from the trees via rope. Where the rope comes from is unknown and why this part of the level has this affect on wanderers is also unknown. According to this survivor, when he pulled himself away from the area entities began to immediately spring out of bushes, ditches in the ground, and from the creek. These entities do not consist of the before mentioned "Snake of Level 576", instead consisting entities such as Wretches, Hounds and Skin stealers. Venturing to the right takes a longer path to the “Dog off leash” area and takes crossing over two bridges. Caution is still advised when crossing both of these bridges. It should be noted that very close to the second bridge of the right path and past the barrier is a school. This school always echoes with screams.
Weather
While the weather of Level 576 is typically sunny, there have been reports of hail storms that last anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours. These hail storms contain large chunks of ice estimated to be the size of a cricket ball. DO NOT VENTURE OUTSIDE when this happens. A singular hit to the head from the large chunks of ice will instantly kill a wanderer.
Bases, Outposts, and Communities
Due to the near unhospitable nature of Level 576 and large population entities, there are no Bases, Outposts, or Communities present.
Entities
Level 576 is densely populated with an infestation of Entities. These include the typical Smilers, Hounds, Skin stealers, Male and Female Deathmoths, Deathrats, Clumps, Crawlers, Wretches, as well as a so far Level exclusive entity named "Snakes of Level 576".
Level Exclusive Entities: "Snakes of Level 576"
The Snakes of Level 576 resemble large snakes and have been seen to reach lengths of 10 ft – 15 ft. These entities are very large in terms of body mass appearing to be incredibly powerful that is theorized to kill via biting and constriction. Despite this large and slow appearance, these entities are incredibly fast, able to slither at speeds that match an athletic human males sprinting capabilities and even exceeding them. In the water they have been stated to be far faster. The Snakes of Level 576 has brown coloration, with streaks of lighter and darker browns on their scales. These snakes have large mouths with cone-like teeth that face inwards, making it near impossible to escape the entities strong bite force without risking greater injury and loss of blood. These entities should NEVER be approached under any circumstances. They are extremely hostile and will give chase and attempt to kill any wanderers on sight.
Environmental Hazards
Level 576 poses a few environmental hazards which are listed below:
- Carbon Monoxide Poisoning: Turning on the stove in the kitchen of the house in Level 576 will cause Carbon Monoxide to come out at an alarming rate, resulting in the suffocation of a wanderer.
- Food Poisoning: Nearly all or all of the supplies that can be consumed are not to be, as they seem to be fatally poisoned or severely out of date, causing the wanderer extreme sickness which will result in their death.
- Loose And Falling Branches: The level has apparently been stated to have loose branches that may drop. If one of these hits a wanderer's head, then they will die instantly.
- Hail Storms: Hail storms occasionally occur in Level 576 and will last from 1 - 3 hours. The ice dropped from these storms is estimated to be the size of a cricket ball. Death occurs on impact to the head by blunt force trauma.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
A randomly appearing cream colored door with multiple claw marks and teeth marks in the door on Level 4 and Level 11, will directly transport any wanderer who enters straight to Level 576 knocking them unconscious, once they awaken the door will have disappeared and they will be within the house of the level. Due to the large number of bodies and skeletons in the level, it is theorized there are many more entrances to the level, however, none have been found.
Exits
There is a key that can be found randomly around the House area of Level 576 which leads to Level 576.1. Otherwise due to the large amount of deaths and low amount of reports, there are no other known exits. The survivors were unable to give any hint to this as they stated to have no memory of their escape. However, when questioned of a key, they all denied touching one.
