An exit window rarely found within the level.

Level 784, commonly referred as the "Changing Attic", as the level is a large, presumably infinite attic that lacks constant stability. The attic changes significantly if someone doesn't look or focus on that specific instance of the environment.

Upon entering Level 784, wanderers begin in the safest area, where the Dust is entirely absent. However, despite being the most secure location within the level, the starting zone lacks Almond Water and other supplies, requiring the exploration of deeper parts of the level. Additionally, exits are completely absent in the starting area. In the more hazardous regions, exits are infrequent but present.

Crates containing supplies are scattered throughout most of the dangerous level parts. Each crate has a distinct red side which can be removed. The other sides have been extensively tested by M.E.G. and cannot be removed or broken to gain access to the contents of the crates. To ensure the safety of the crates, M.E.G. has put them through a Dust Storm. After the Dust Storm passed, the crates were completely intact and no Dust had contaminated the contents. The testing proved that the Dust can't contaminate the contents unless the crate has already been opened tampered with. It is as of yet unknown why the crates exist or who made them. Inside of the crates, wanderers can find Almond Water and Royal Rations. If any items other than these are discovered, it is a clear indication that the crate has already been opened before and is likely infested with Dust, posing a significant risk to anyone who consumes or comes in contact with its contents.

The Notes

Throughout Level 784, notes containing crucial information are scattered, aiding wanderers in navigating its dangers. In the starting area, where individuals first arrive upon entering the level, a note is affixed to a wall, explaining the nature of the Dust and offering guidance on protection against it. The content of these notes varies, ranging from survival tips to descriptions of the level's few exits. These notes are seemingly designed to be highly visible, often appearing in vibrant green or blue, ensuring they stand out from the surroundings. The origin of the notes remains uncertain and they appear to be unaffected by the Dust. All attempts to remove the notes from their positions have thus far resulted in failure.

An image of the Dust near one of the many windows after the breeze stopped blowing.

The Dust is a very dangerous component of Level 784, being its main danger. It is highly corrosive to almost all substances, being able to tear through both organic and inorganic matter unless it is made of glass. Additionally, glass barriers are scattered throughout the level with built-in doors. These can be used to escape a Dust Storm. As of yet it is unknown why the Dust is so corrosive or why glass is resistant to its corrosive force. Some Dust particles have been analyzed and found to be made of tiny wood chips and pieces of very sharp metal resembling iridium. M.E.G. has however, made no further discoveries about the Dust. The lack of new discoveries about Level 784 and the Dust can be attributed to the few exits, navigation difficulties within and plentiful hazards.

When exploring Level 784 one must always pay attention to the strength of the breeze — if it suddenly picks up the pace one must immediately seek shelter as a Dust storm is forming in the area. These are very deadly as they can reach speeds of up to 200 km/h, the Dust caught in the storm will speeding through the level and tearing many unprotected objects and entities to shreds for about 2 - 12 hours. These winds not only make the Dust much deadlier than before but also fling around anything and everything that is not screwed or mounted in place securely.

A reconstructed photo of the Outside.

The Outside is the largest mystery within the Changing Attic that wanderers have so far come across. Currently it is classified as a rarely accessible location within the level. However some theorize that it is not a rare area — rather that it is a sub-layer of Level 784. Information about the Outside is scarce, limited to fragmented notes scattered across the level and the recollections of those who experienced it and came back. Every wanderer who has returned from the Outside was found near a window, on the brink of insanity presumably due to what they experienced while being there.

They described a window unlike the others, not filled with the usual white void, but with an image of a city cloaked in fog and eternal nighttime, with yellow lamps lining the streets and buildings that they cannot describe. The places they found there were unlike any other as even the food was edible for some unlike in many other parts of the Backrooms. Accounts suggest that the window irresistibly drew them closer to itself.

Descriptions of the Outside vary a lot. For some it was a place of perfection that suited them in all ways possible, while for others, it was filled with lethal dangers that they had to avoid. When either returned, they went insane — they said that the life they had in the Outside was better even if filled with dangers. Some were however rescued by M.E.G. and interviewed, their reports were used to reconstruct an image an description of the Outside.

A photo of a less stable part of Level 784.

Level 784 constantly changes around wanderers whenever they don't look at it or focus on it. This phenomenon ranges from the level adjusting the placing of a wooden planks to creating entire new rooms. The stability shifts can be controlled by keeping in mind and remembering what is going on around you. Attempts were made to affect the level by remembering an incorrect image of the looks of Level 784 but those were not successful and did not affect the level, rather it is believed that this actually increased the scope of the changes applied to that certain location. The Dust can be avoided by using the instability of the level, if properly timed one will end up in a completely different area. This is suggested to only be used as a last resort due to the unpredictable nature of the instability. Additionally, the stability of the Changing Attic is capable of transporting one to the Outside or into an area where a Dust storm is occurring.

Bases, Outposts, and Communities

Due to the nature of Level 784 no Bases, Outposts, or Communities have been setup.

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

By crossing through a window with another attic visible through it in Level 19 one can end up here.

By finding a very battered floorboard in Level 126 and no-clipping through it one can end up in Level 784.

Exits

Due to the outside being considered a part of Level 784 and not a separate level there is only one exit. To exit one needs to find a window that behaves similarly to a fluid when one touches it and go through it to end up in Level 19.

By climbing a rare ladder one can end up in Level 11.
