Data Files

This file was downloaded from a B.D.C database controlled by entity 251 and unfortunately around 40% of the information is unavailable to us, we have done our best to declassify and unredact as much as possible, we have discovered many strange things amongst the redacted information

████ █████ Object 101

Object 101 or Data Files appear to be a iPad of some sort used by Entity 251. They can contain an infinite amount of data and can do an assortment of useful tasks but the trade off is an increase in weight which can be difficult to deal with when trying to travel light or traveling in difficult terrain. Some do appear to be [DATA EXPUNGED]

Description

Data Files are iPad looking devices, they are a bit bulkier looking more like a book with a touch screen. ████ ███ ████ ██ █████████ ██████ ███ ████ ████ The screen lights up blue when turned on and displays the B.D.C. logo, the rest of the device is pitch black, but some have been reported to have stripes, significance unknown. They are produced by entity 251 and have been given to the M.E.G. for an easy way to record information. In depth though, their weight and bulkiness appears to hinder it but it has many built in devices that explain why it's so heavy. ███ ███████ ████████ ███ ████ ███ ████ ████ ██ ███ █████ ██ ██████ ████ ████ ███████ ███ ████ ████████ ███████████ █████ ███ ███ ████████ ████ ███ ████████ ███ █████ ██ ███ ██████

Properties

Data files have quite a few built in devices including a type of map that can bring up maps of already explored levels and maps out unexplored areas automatically. It comes with a built in scanner to scan dead entities, living friendly entities, or properties of resources, among other things. The data files have a built in long range radio to contact either another data file user in the level or someone with a radio within range. This however causes them to weigh around 5-10 pounds making them a bit cumbersome to people exploring more dangerous levels. Data files need to be charged as well, they can hold a charge for a good while but will eventually die and need a recharge. Any data on a data file can be uploaded to a central data base but the speed depends on the amount of data a user is uploading at once. They lack a need for internet unless you're uploading something to another data file. They do have one odd feature, they alert the user to the nearby presence of a Ambassador or a Servant, why is unknown but it is believed Entity 251 has extremely hostile relations with the ambassadors. Other features are the following, Connection wire for direct uploads to a data base or another data file, this eliminates the need for internet. The next is of course the charging cord for obvious reasons. Prevent damage to your data file or it will cease all functions upon receiving 50% damage usually but have been known to continue working at a far slower rate at around 70% damage. ███ ████████ ███████ ██ ███ ████ █████ ███ ██ ██████ ██ ███ ████ ██ ███ ███ ███ ████ ██ ███ ███ █████ ████ ████ ██████ ██ self destruct ██ ███████ ████ ████ ████ ████ ██████████ ███ ███████████ ███ ████████ ███████████

█████ ███ Spider drone

In order to assist the user each one contains a very small spider like drone which can be deployed, it has a camera and a built in scanner to assist the user, it features a siren to lead entities away from its user as well but is very fragile and will break easily. Despite its very basic robotics it posses a advanced sort of AI and can move surprisingly fast when it needs to and can even outpace many entities such as wretches and smilers. ██ ███████ ███ Backrooms robotics ███ █████████ ██ ██ ████ ███ ██████

G.O.I.'s currently using Data Files

M.E.G.

They currently use Data Files to catalogue new levels, entities, and resources to a better degree than their old methods but because they must be made by entity 251, the M.E.G. has a small amount available.

U.E.C.

They use data files for cataloguing new inventions and discoveries similar to the M.E.G. but also document experimentation on entities with them and the use of weapons on entities. They have a precious few as they must find them due to their hostile relations with entity 251.

Data pads are particularly useful for getting a lay of the land, if only they weren't so heavy they would be a much more valuable prize

Locations

Data files are found on level 251 where they are produced but lost data files can be found on different levels.
