A Wanderers Depiction of Level 297

Short introduction

Level #297 is the 298th level of the Backrooms. Welcome to Backrooms Level 297 where the strange properties here make sense, but at the same time they don't…

Description

On this mortifyingly quiet level, an expanse of dark blue walls, grey blank ceilings, and itchy brown carpeted floors with green dots scattered around. This extremely large, suspenseful, and human-less level, you can scour for materials for hours and find nothing. this isolated plane of existance is also very, very cold, and depending on where you are, it can be up to 50 degrees Fahrenheit, all the way down to 23 degrees Fahrenheit, or 10 degrees Celsius all the way down to -5 degrees Celsius. this extremly big animated looking building spans out approximately 600 million square feet and possesses strange paranormal properties. You could say that this place is a flat copy of Level 0, but with amplified effects and even stranger properties.

This strange and uncanny level feels, and looks strange; it has a strange look, almost as if it's a digital drawing. It looks so smooth and sleek, yet most, if not all surfaces you touch with any body part feel ridged, rough, or uneven. Alike with Level 0, you can wander in a straight line and wind up back where you started. The level is somehow evenly lit, though there are no light sources in this level.

You can hear what seems like the buzz from an AC unit through the walls and ground, even though no matter where you look or wander, there are no devices or objects that could be making a strange buzzing sound. The loneliness really makes you wonder, are you really alone? though it is guaranteed there are no entities or human beings to come into contact with on level 297.

You can hear strange cries or screams; sometimes it's a baby making heart-wrenching cries or whimpering noises. You may also hear men, women, and little kids screaming or asking if anyone is there. Don't call out; it's a waste of energy.

Parts

Part 1

This part of this Massive abnormal level is pretty simple; the walls and floors are the same as normally described, and the air is sitting at a solid 43 - 50 degrees Fahrenheit, or 6.1 - 10 degrees Celsius. The humming of an invisible AC unit manages to slowly drive you insane as you wander the seemingly infinite expanse of the same walls, floors, and ceilings.

Part 2

Part 2 of this one massive hallucination starts to get very difficult around these parts, not because there are entities, but because the environment and noises around become very hard to ignore. The air gets a lot colder, around 42 - 35 degrees Fahrenheit, or 5.5 - 1.6 degrees Celsius. The floor seems to develop wet, green, smelly puddles of which nobody is sure what liquid is inside of these strange puddles to make it smell like what wanderers describe as dead people combined with rotten milk. And strange audible and physical anomalous appearances seem to come by more often than most.

Part 3

This is where things get exceedingly challenging, but don't give out hope yet because this is the last part of this terribly smelly placebefore the exit is accessible. The temperatures here reach below/freezing, approximately 28 - 23 degrees Fahrenheit, or -2.2 - -5 degrees Celsius. The floor feels wet, but when you reach down with your hands it's dry, just like normal. The floor remains with the weird green smelly puddles but bigger, and now accompanied usually with big dry blue spots. When you reach down it's almost as if it's dried powder, but it smells terrible, almost as if you put a ton of unpackaged meat into a refrigerator and left it to rot for years.

Special Properties

  • On this level, there are many strange properties, but one of many properties is the auditory and physical hallucinations. You may see humans that when you get close disappear, or people peeking around corners with uncanny smiles that again, disappear as soon as you get close. An example of the auditory hallucinations is hearing children, men, and women screaming and asking if anyone is there. Or you may hear the heart-wrenching cry of a baby; some wanderers say it stops abruptly, almost as if it stops making noises for something. Even the AC units may stop for whatever it is that made the noises go silent, which sends a terrifying chill down your spine, knowing that you are alone but having the level suggest that you aren't…
  • Sadly, this weirdly built building does not provide any materials to help you stack up resources on your journey through the Backrooms.
  • If you do leave any of your resources on the ground, leave, and come back, any resources you found and left will disappear, making it impossible to set up shelter on this freaky plane of insanity, not that you would want to.
  • On this level, you would think you are going insane, but contrarily, you actually go insane much slower than on most levels. Nobody has figured out how this works or how it happens, but that's the Backrooms for you.
  • On Level 297, you may see strange textures on the walls, well not that they aren't already strange, but I mean out of place. You may find sky textures on the walls, but when you touch them they seem to go back to the strange smooth-looking wall.
  • Speaking of the strange smooth walls, this level holds a strange visual property where everything looks absolutely smooth, with no ridges or bumps, almost as if it's a poorly made digital drawing of an infinite expanse of random walls and rooms.

Bases, Outposts and Communities

Due to the fact that wanderers cannot meet here, there are no bases, outposts, or communities in this terrifyingly lonley place.

Entrances And Exits

Entrances

Accessing this uncanny, smelly hellscape requires resourcefulness and determination. Seek out a building with blue walls, grey ceilings, and brown carpeted floors with green dots on Level 28, or find a room with dark blue walls, grey ceilings, and brown carpeted floors with green dots on Level 7, and enter a door inside of the room.

Exits

Escape from this levels oders, strange noises, and uncanny faces, is possible through two distinct methods, each presenting its own set of challenges. Take a plunge into a pool within the 3rd part of these forsaken halls to be transported to Level 37 (the Poolrooms), or seek out a stuffed cat in Part 3 and grasp it tightly to find yourself whisked away to Level 974 (Kitty's house).
