Level X - Meteor of the Backrooms
Level X is an enigmatic level located in the Blue Channel.
Its nature leads to the Level being surprisingly dangerous, with the numerous Events being a major cause for concern for any Levels affected. Should you find yourself here, try to leave as quickly as possible.
Description
This Level appears as a finite shifting forest bordered by a shimmering mirrored border, with a central wooden house. The whole Level appears to be in a state of disrepair.
The scenery outside the border looks like a mirrored reflection of the interior, leading some to speculate that the surrounding barrier is, in fact, a mirror. However, this hypothesis doesn't hold any merit as it doesn't reflect the appearance of the wanderers themselves or any of the disrepair in the Level.
The entire Level is dotted with remnants, insertions, or things clearly not originating from this Level. Examples include yellow wallpaper from Level 0, exposed steel beams from Level 1 and so on.
Periodically, the central house will 'repair' itself; the damage and disrepair will slowly fade into a fully intact, stable house that looks rather homely.
No confirmed entities are present in this Level, however Wanderers often report a constant feeling of being watched, and visions of shadowy figures amongst the trees in their peripheral vision.
Main Elements
The Forest constitutes most of Level X, being present everywhere except the center of the Level, where a small clearing contains the House. The trees cover the area such that when standing under them the sky is not visible.
Trees average between 15 meters and 20 meters in height, with the tallest measure being 23.6 meters tall. Substituting sap, these trees appear to be fueled by and contain Liquid Pain and as such should be treated with caution.
The trees in this Level, when observed over a long enough time frame (several hours) have been observed to be constantly moving within the soil. Trees have been known to clip through eachother.
The Forest has on one occasion been reported to undergo a moment of temporal instability, where a Wanderer noted that trees began to 'glitch'. This reportedly only lasted a couple of seconds, although its cause is unknown.
This Level's main anomalous quality is its location and method of entrance. This entire level and everything within it appears to currently be moving at approximately 12500ms-1 through the Blue Channel, and appears to be slowly accelerating due to an unknown force. As such, this level has been nicknamed The Meteor of the Backrooms. This acceleration can be felt within the Level itself, with any Wanderer within feeling a force akin to being in an accelerating vehicle.
On the occasion that another Level is inside the flight path of this Level through the Blue Channel, the two will clip into eachother at speed, causing large damages to both levels. Due to this, staying inside Level X is highly advised against.
Bases, Outposts and Communities
Due to the nature of the Level, no outposts or settlements can be made.
Events
Events are the label given to the process of Level X clipping into and through another Level in the Backrooms. Should another Level be in the path of this Level, the Levels will clip through eachother, causing damages to both levels as matter moves through other matter.
An important distinction to make is that this clipping is not necessarily no-clipping, as it results in damages. Oftentimes pieces of earth and wood will be detached and left inside the victim Level, and pieces of that Level will be 'stolen' by Level X.
This 'stealing' has allowed us to make a list of Levels that have been confirmed to have been affected by an Event. This list is as follows:
Level 0
- Level 0's wallpaper has been spotten ripped and muddied on Level X.
Level 5
- Pieces of Level 5's carpet have been spotted on this Level.
Level 75
- Puddles of gallium have been spotted on this Level, and large clumps of earth have been spotted in Level 75.
Level 46
- Sand and sandstone have been spotted on the Level.
Entrances And Exits
Entrances
- Due to the level's special circumstances, the only way thus found to enter it is to have it move into you while inside the Blue Channel or be unfortunate enough to be caught in the wrong area of a victim Level during an Event.
Exits
- Standing near the border of this Level for too long can clip you back into the Blue Channel.
- Jumping into the Void will clip you into the Blue Channel.
- Standing very close to the edge when an Event occurs can very rarely deposit you in the victim Level, although this is highly recommended against.
