Item n°? : Dreamcatchers
"Since backrooms are made up of non-Euclidean spaces, and survival in them includes hallucinations, confrontation with madness, exposure to psychic and metaphysical entities, and simply sleep and the dreams and nightmares it engenders, it is difficult to differentiate what is real from what is not…
Use this carfully.
-Gauss, humble crafter "
[IMMAGE CURRENTLY MISSING]
(Note attached with one of the first found "Dreamcatchers")
Consisting of an incandescent light bulb or any form of small XX's century electric lighting, a "Dreamcatcher" helps to clarify a wanderer's perception of reality;
Once in contact with a "dreamcatcher", a wanderer will then become host of an yet uncertain status which, for the remainder of this report, we will refer to as becoming a "Dreamer".
The Dreamer can then, if exposed to certain statuses, distinguish light coming from the Dreamcatcher with which he is in contact:
-If the Dreamer is asleep and is witnessing a dream/nightmare, the Dreamcatcher will appear in said dream and will emit a white light.
-If the Dreamer is exposed to a daydream, the Dreamcatcher will produce a phosphorescent yellow light.
-If the Dream is exposed to visual hallucination(s) from the Dreamer's mind, the Dream Catcher will produce an orange/red light.
-If the Dreamer is not exposed to any auditory hallucination(s) from the Dreamer's mind, the Dreamcatcher will produce a sizzling sound, differentiated from those in the Dreamer's level by the unique pleasant symphonic sounds emanating from the Dreamcatcher.
-If the Dreamer is exposed to any visual hallucination(s) from external sources (entities or the dreamer's current level), the dreamcatcher will produce a flashing light ranging from white to red depending on the intensity of the hallucination experienced.
-If the dreamer is not exposed to any of the above mentioned states, the Dreamcatcher will not produce any light.
"A- We can't realy understand how those Dreamcatchers can actually work… However, we know those have been actually manhanded built in the Backrooms, level [REDACTED] to be precise.
B- How can you know that ?
A- Simple: Including the fact that [REDACTED] and that Level 0's moist is basically one of the best inflamable fuel when it dries, someone could easely make a [REDACTED] to make glass and melt metal. Well, that place crowl with unused metal parts. This Goss, ehm, Gauss… Well, this guy. He must be one of a suicidal to come and go between [REDACTED] and Level 0 all the time.
B- All the time ?
A- Yeah, that b*stard wont die, and won't be found…
B- How do you… He is alive ?
A- You know, he [REDACTED]
B- What ?! Why do you M.E.G. don't go ask him to [REDACTED]
A- … F*ck, I told you to much."
(Partially redacted discussion between a Wanderer and the M.E.G. officer who reported this discussion.)
7 Dreamcatchers are posessed by M.E.G. members for study. Five [Six] are definitively broken.
Reports signals at least 4 wanderers in possetion of a Dreamcatcher.
Dreamcatchers can be found with user manuals in the levels listed below:
- Level 1 (can be found replacing fallen neon lights)
- Level 2 (can be found connected to air vents or on the ground)
- Level 4 (can be found near untrapped windows and fresh hound corpses)
- Level 11 (3 found in fallen lampposts)
- Level 25 (1 found in broken arcade screens)
- Level 33 (1 found on the ground)
- Level [Unknown] (1 found in the dissolved corpse of a Necraloid)
If it shines blue, run as far as you can.
It may not follow you if you don't try to hide.
