Level 912 is the 913th level of The Backrooms. It was discovered on November 13th of 2021, but because of a long-abandoned civilization being found a year after, it's speculated this level was first discovered around 100 BC.
The starting place when the level is entered from Level 11.
Description
Level 912 is a finite library that stretches for 127,000 miles/204,386 kilometers (estimated length from The Reception Desk). It contains several bookshelves that can contain real books, or made up ones. The books can repeat on rare occasions, and are usually poetry or historical. You can take any book you want, however you must return them in 24 hours or less. If you don't, you have to pay a fine of trading objects such as Almond Water or Firesalt. If you take the books to another level before 24 hours pass, you can keep them in the level you have been transported to. Along with the bookshelves, there are windows, carpets, columns and pieces of art which have no identified author. Occasionally, there is a reading room which has a couch, a table and some bookshelves to accompany it. These rooms appearing are sort of rare. Few people also have a theory that this level is constantly expanding whenever a new book is made, and contains every book ever made, similar to the Library of Babel. This theory however doesn't have enough evidence and is not believed by the majority of people who inhabit the level.
Bases, Outposts and Communities
The Reception Desk
- Approximately 15 members
- Mostly friendly, can help guide you to a specific part of the library they are familiar with
- Has signs that signify how close you are to their base.
- Their base is situated a reading room, having homemade furniture around it, such as a small table with a plant on it
- Open for trading if you bring them a book that they have not collected yet
Underground Civilization Ruins
The only known picture of the Underground Civilization Ruins, taken with a camera flash, originating from the hallway that takes you to Level 23. Whereabouts and identity of the photographer are unknown.
Near a reception desk somewhere in the level, you can find a hole that has ancient runes carved right next to it. Going down the hole, you can find a system of several tunnels and small underground houses, a quite impressive feat for it's time. You can also find other rooms such as underground meeting rooms, trading markets etc. These rooms have been long since abandoned and have been presumed to be from approximately 100 BC. These all have arches, roman architecture and primitive canalization. This has been speculated to be from The Lost, but it's not fully confirmed yet, although the runes are similar to the writing from The Lost. The length of this area is unknown, since few even know about it's existence. It is also rumored that the civilization dug a 5 mile hallway, before eventually ending up in Level 23's ancient ruins, and presumably building the structures there. It is not advised to enter this area, since some rubble can fall on you and potentially kill you. This area was discovered on the 8th of September of 2022.
Entities
The only entity in this level is someone known as "The Librarian". They have a blue suit and tie, along with black pants. His skin tone is pitch black, and the only other thing he has is a blue fedora and a pair of glasses, despite not having any eyes. They they are rarely seen, unless you have a book that you haven't returned yet after 24 hours pass. When you have a book that you haven't returned yet, they will go to your location, no matter how long away you are. Then they will ask you to pay a fine of objects. If you don't have the objects, he will give you another 24 hours to find one and give it to them. If you don't have any objects to pay within the 48 hour deadline, he will send you back to the level you came from, and take your book away.
Entrances And Exits
Entrances
Finding a specific library in Level 11 or any other city level named "Library of Timelines" will take you here. Another way to enter is to find a light, desaturated green slide in Level 119, which takes you here. However, it should be noted that these slides are really rare to find in that level.
Exits
The only known way to exit is to find a 5 mile long hallway in the Underground Civilization Ruins, which eventually leads you to Level 23, specifically the Ancient Ruins part of it. It has also been rumored that there is an exit which is connected in some way to Level 729, but this has little evidence and has not been verified.
